Lee C. Caldwell

SARATOGA – Lee "Papa Smurf" Caldwell, 79, of Saratoga, passed away on Thursday October 7, 2010 at Saratoga Hospital. He was born in Stuyvestant, NY and was the son of the late Earl J. and Mary Jane Losee Caldwell.
Lee was a heavy equipment operator for several construction companies including Lucarelli Construction in Latham. He was an active member of the Gold Wing Rider's Association. Lee enjoyed fishing, gardening, boating and was a bird enthusiast. He was a man with a tremendous sense of humor and loved by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Lee was predeceased by his wife, Leslie Ann Crouse Caldwell. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Caldwell; his children, Shawn (Shelly) Caldwell, Kelly (Patti) Thompson, Bridget (Dan) Caldwell, Melony (Dwayne) Morse. He is the stepfather of Laura McDonald, Ronald Hughes and Timothy Hughes. Longtime friend of Rob Rock. He is the brother of Freda (Garfield) Deyo and the late Everett Caldwell, Dorothy Cole and Martha Kniffen. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
