Lena Fonda

ROTTERDAM, NY – Lena Fonda, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at Ellis Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Marie (Anziano) Izzo. Mrs. Fonda resided in Rotterdam for over 50 years. She was an active honorary member of the Rotterdam Fire District #2 Ladies Auxiliary for 29 years and a 30 year member of the VFW Post #357 Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Fonda attended arts and crafts at the Rotterdam Senior Citizens Center. Lena was a talented artist who enjoyed working with oils, acrylics and water colors. She is the beloved wife of 56 years to Walter R. Fonda. She is the devoted mother of Walter J. Fonda of Rotterdam. Lena was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Angeline Fuschino, Peter Thomas, Theresa Mone, Anthony Izzo, Ann Smith, Joseph Izzo and Frank Izzo. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Cyril & Method Cemetery, Rotterdam.
