Albany-Lena Gibson, 69 passed away peacefully on Sunday May 7, 2023 surrounded by her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Jessie and Bennie Lee Horne. Lena was the devoted wife of Ronald L. Gibson and they shared an amazing love for 49 years.
Lena's career was in health care and was last employed by the Albany County Heath Department for 18 years up to the time she retired in 2012. She was truly committed to serving others and doing whatever she could to make sure those around her were always taken care of.
Lena loved her family very much. She would always enjoy visits from her family and attending her grandchildren's many sporting events. She loved to take long walks and appreciate the sunshine, flowers and her favorite bird, which was the hummingbird. She also had a flare for fashion and enjoyed shopping.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Ronald M. (Teresa) Gibson, Jr., her daughter Silena Dickson and her four grandchildren; Azjunique Gibson, Shea Gibson, Alexis Gibson and Dominic Gibson.
Lena is predeceased by her sister, Wanda D. Horne and brother Jessie J. Horne, Jr.
Services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 in Lena's name.
