LOUDONVILLE – Lena J. Millett, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2007, with her three children at her side. Born in Avis, PA, Lena was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia Cafasso Pirone. She relocated with her family to Albany when she was a teenager and lived most of her adult life in Colonie. In addition to taking care of her family, she began a career in the food industry by first working for Joe's Catering in Albany. Later, she worked as a banquet manager for the Golden Fox Restaurant and the Holiday Inn in Latham. After retirement, Lena worked in the cafeteria at Christian Brothers Academy in Albany and volunteered at St. Pius X School in Loudonville.
Lena cherished her time spent with her family and friends. Playing pinochle with her friends at the Village of Colonie HBK Senoir Citizen Club and bowling at the Sunset Recreational Bowling Lanes were her favorite activities besides spending time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included attending her grandchildren's sporting events, trips to the casinos, crocheting and reading books. Breakfast at grandma's house on Sunday was the highlight of her week.
Lena was the wife of the late Lewie F. Millett, Sr. and is survived by three children, Patricia A. (Richard) Miller of Loudonville, Lewie F. (Nancy) Millett, Jr. of Niskayuna and Sharon M. (Frank) Hope of Loudonville. Lena was a most devoted grandmother of six grandchildren: Katie Miller, Christine Millett Jeffries, Lewie F. Millett, III, Jessica Millett, Christopher Hope and Cassandra Hope; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one brother, William Pirone. She was predeceased by four brothers, James, Vito, Eary and Peter Pirone; five sisters, Frances Enides, Josephine Aviza, Mary DeCapria, Irma Salerno, and Janet Ferro; and a beloved grand-nephew, Joseph Foiadelli.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 11 to 12 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.
