CLIFTON PARK – Leo Thomas Gallagher, Sr., 74, was born into eternal life on July 8, 2007 at Ellis Hospital. He was born in Albany and was the only child of the late Leo Francis Gallagher and Agnes Geleta Gallagher. Mr. Gallagher was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from the New York State Division for Youth in 1990, after 20 years of service. Leo loved bowling, playing the lottery and traveling with his wife to places all over the world including Greece, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Europe, Asia, the Panama Canal and all across the United States. Las Vegas was one of their favorite places. Mr. Gallagher especially loved spending time with his devoted family, with babysitting his grandchildren being his favorite past time. Leo is survived by his devoted wife Genevieve. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 1, 2007. He is the beloved father of Donna (Tony) Parisi, Nancy (Dimitri) Grivas and Leo T. (Judy) Gallagher, Jr. He is the cherished grandfather of Angela and Genevieve Grivas, Antoinette Parisi and Brandon Gallagher. Leo's family would like to express their deepest thanks to the doctors and nurses on the 4th and 5th floor cardiac and pulmonary unit, and ICU unit at Ellis Hospital, especially Dr. Peter Weinberg for the gentle care they gave to Leo. Thanks are also extended to the therapists at Northwoods at Hilltop Rehabilitation Center.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
