COLONIE, NY – Leo O. Lapierre, Jr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital Born on August 6, 1928 in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Leo O. and Beatrice (Meunier) Lapierre. He was educated at St. Ceccelia's Elementary School in Pawtucket, RI and graduated from St. Raphel's Academy in Pawtucket. Leo worked as a typesetter at Brennen's in Providence, RI then at North Attleboro Chronicle in North Attleboro, MA. He also worked for Graphic Laboratories in Mansfield, MA and more recently, owned and operated L. Lapierre, Inc. a U.S. mail contractor. Mr. Lapierre played the saxophone and clarinet and also enjoyed boating and fishing. Leo is the beloved husband of Florence M. (Jarvis) Lapierre. He is the devoted father of Philip R. Lapierre of Troy, Christine B. (Lapierre) Dwyer of North Attleboro, MA, Lisa A. Lapierre of Franklin, MA, Kimberly J. (Lapierre) Kelly of Attleboro, MA and Roy J. Lapierre of Albany. He is the brother of Armand Lapierre of Rehoboth, MA and the late Roy Lapierre. Also surviving are nine cherished grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 8:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to the Church of St. Clare at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
