LOUDONVILLE – Leo Paradowski, 92, of Loudonville, entered peacefully into eternal life on June 23, 2011 at Diamond Hill Skilled Nursing Facility in Troy, NY.
Born in Rotterdam, he worked for ALCO Products prior to World War II and was drafted into military service where he honorably served his country in Europe. During his service in the Army he participated in five campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion of Normandy. For his valiant service he received a Purple Heart and EAME Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars.
Leo retired in 1979 as a driver for Tracy's Express in Rensselaer and enjoyed thirty two years of retirement. During his free time, Leo enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes, pitching horseshoes and traveling throughout the entire USA except for Alaska and Hawaii.
Leo is survived by his wife of 65 years, Olga Szaszkiewicz Paradowski; his beloved children, Janice Robinson (George) of Rotterdam, William Paradowski (Patricia) of Schenectady and Wayne Paradowski (Lynn) of Colonie; loving grandchildren, Jennifer Reid (Andrew), George Robinson Jr., Kristin Kuhl (Jeremy) and Amber Paradowski; sisters, F. Helen Paradowski of Burnt Hills and Genevieve Cummings of Edinberg and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Lucy Smith, Thomas Paradowski and Ralph Paradowski.
The family would like to thank the staff at Diamond Hill for their compassionate care shown to Leo during his stay.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 A.M. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt 155 South of Central Avenue) Interment to follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday evening from 4 to 7 P.M.
