CHICAGO - LEON F. RILEY, JR. 78, BELOVED FATHER, GRANDFATHER, BROTHER AND UNCLE, RESIDENT OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, PASSED AWAY ON THURSDAY, JUNE 9, 2011.
LEON WAS BORN IN OMAHA, NEBRASKA ON AUGUST 24, 1932 AND IS THE SON OF THE LATE LEON F. AND MARY R.RILEY.
LEON ("LEE") ATTENDED ST. BONAVENTURE UNIVERSITY, TRANSFERRED AND GRADUATED FROM DETROIT UNIVERSITY. LEE SERVED AT FT.DIX, N.J. WHILE IN THE U.S. ARMY. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE AND PLAYED FOR THE NEW YORK GIANTS, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES AND DETROIT LIONS BEFORE RETIRING AND JOINING LOEHMANN BROTHERS AS A VICE PRESIDENT WHERE HE WORKED FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS BELOVED DAUGHTER KATHY CORRADO (DOUGLAS), THREE GRANDCHILDREN, MARY JEWELL, KELSEY ELIZABETH AND DOUGLAS ARTHUR, TWO BROTHERS DENNIS M. RILEY (EILEEN) AND PATRICK J. RILEY (CHRISTINE), TWO SISTERS, ELIZABETH PIERRO (LOUIS) AND MARY KAY RILEY, SISTER-IN-LAW KATHERINE RILEY (LEONARD, DECEASED), SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS, LISA RILEY BIDINOST, DENNIS MICHAEL RILEY, JR., KELLY RILEY HORAN (KEVIN), COLLEEN GOVAN (DEREK), RAPHAEL (BEAU) PIERRO, JAMES RILEY AND ELISABETH RILEY. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY SEVERAL GREAT NIECES AND NEPHEWS
RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND FUNERAL SERVICES ON FRIDAY AT 1:00 AT NEW COMER-CANNON FUNERAL HOME, 343 NEW KARNER RD. COLONIE. A CALLING HOUR WILL PRECEDE THS SERVICE ON FRIDAY FROM 12 NOON TO 1:00 AT THE FUNERAL HOME. INTERMENT WILL BE AT MOST HOLY REDEEMER CEMETERY, NISKAYUNA.
