SCHENECTADY – Leon (Lee) Thomas Crandall, Sr., 77, died on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Born May 6, 1929 in Schuylerville, he was the son of the late Flora Jane Mabb and George Crandall.
Lee retired in 1990 from KME (formerly Walter Motor Truck Co.) in Voorheesville as a machinist. He served in the Army National Guard. As a master carpenter he enjoyed woodworking. He was also a stock car racing fan of Fonda and Malta Speedways for 20 years.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Isabelle Crandall of Schenectady; two daughters, Linda Lee Crandall of Schenectady and Susan Jane Crandall of Amsterdam; two "sons", Charles Nelson of Albany and Robert Williams of Amsterdam; grandchildren, Annie Mae, Nicholas and Victoria Nelson and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son, Leon Thomas Crandall, Jr.; a brother, Raymond Crandall Jr. and a sister, Leona Crandall-Cook.
A special thanks to the nurses of A-5 and the ICU at Ellis Hospital for their care and compassion to Lee and his family.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 6 to 7 p.m.
