Leona Beach, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, departed from this world on October 29, 2023, at the age of 87.
Born on June 6, 1936, in Albany, NY, to Leo Joseph Shank and Ruth Viola Shank, Leona was a remarkable woman known for her unwavering kindness, grace, and generosity. Her life was a testament to the values of love, family, and community.
Leona was a devoted wife, married to William Beach Jr. for 55 years until his passing in 2010. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and love, which they shared with their children and grandchildren.
Leona is survived by her four daughters: Laura (Robert), Gail (Andrew), Sharon (Charles), Lisa (Lewis), and her son William (Linda). She leaves behind 36 cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were touched by her wisdom and the stories she shared about their family's history. Her legacy of love and unity will continue to inspire generations to come.
Leona is survived by her sibling, Ruth Dean. Her sister-in-laws Pauline Moore and Irene Beach. She is predeceased by her sister Dorothy Mullen (Jim), her sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, David Dean, Loraine Lamora (Bob), Clint, Gordon (Joan), Eleanor O'Neil (John) and Charles Beach; and her brother-in-law, Bill Looby.
Leona's enduring faith guided her throughout her life, providing solace and strength. A devout Christian, she passed on her spiritual values to her family.
As we mourn the loss of Leona, we also celebrate the profound impact she had on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at Cyprus Shriners on November 11, 2023, from 2:00-6:00, located at 9 Frontage Rd Glenmont, NY 12077. All who knew and loved Leona Beach are welcome to attend.
Leona Beach has left an indelible mark on this world, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
