Bowen, Leonard "Scrappy" WATERVLIET Leonard "Scrappy" Bowen passed away peacefully Sunday, July 4, 2010 amongst family and friends. Scrappy was born in Troy, the son of Priscilla and the late Donald Bowen and was a lifelong area resident. He worked for AlTec Steel for 26 years and coached Village Youth Soccer for many years. On many days, Scrappy would be seen walking the sidelines or in the dugout barefoot while coaching for both Village Youth Soccer and Whitehall Little League. In addition to his mother, Scrappy is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Bowen; his loving son, Christopher Bowen; three brothers, Butch., Robbie and James; his best friend, Stephen Krus; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defer some of Scrappy's medical bills in care of SEFCU.
