Leonard L. Young

April 22, 1932 — March 20, 2024

Leonard L. Young passed peacefully on March 20, 2024, after a brief illness.

Leonard was born in Jamesport, New York to Arden and Mildred (Randall) Young. He graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia where he majored in Music Education. He served in the US Army and was in the 3rd Army Band as a trombonist and also served in the Army Special Services, entertaining troops at various bases.

He worked at and retired from Western Union having worked in Boston MA, Albany NY, Buffalo NY, Rochester NY, and Hartford CT. He retired as a District Supervisor of the Northeastern Region.

Leonard and Georgia retired and moved to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida and enjoyed 20 years of warm weather, wonderful friends, and music.

Leonard was predeceased by his parents, sister Almira Young and brother Fred (Randall) Young.

Leonard is survived by loving wife Georgia DePersia Young, his sister Ruth (James) Brownell, stepchildren Mary Ann Giering, Michael (Kathy) Giering, Susan (Michael) Giering-Phinney, sister-in-law Michele (Jack) DePersia, brother-in-law Christopher (June) DePersia, his nephews Tom (Larayne) Brownell and Michael (Stephanie) Brownell.

Funeral services will be private with interment at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
