Leonora "Norma" Ranft (91) passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 8, 2016.
Norma was born in Manhattan on July 20, 1924, to Arthur and Theresa Wilcox. She was fourth of seven children: Dot, Celia, Charlotte, Norma, Catherine, Arthur, and Donald. Norma spent most of her years in Maspeth, New York, until she and her beloved husband William moved to Ballston Spa in 2001 to be closer to their daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Norma devoted most of her life to caring for her family. Her life revolved around them, and she effortlessly filled their lives with love and laughter. Norma cherished surprise family visits, enjoyed cooking, loved playing cards and Scrabble, and welcomed just spending time with her family. All those who knew her felt her warmth and love from the moment she greeted them. She had a wonderful way of making everyone feel welcome.
Norma will be forever missed by her daughter Patricia (John); her four grandchildren: Jeannie, John (Claudia), William, and Kristen (David); and her eight great grandchildren: Katelyn, Ciera, Aicha, Patrick, Cameron, Cheyenne, Micaela, and John-Luca.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Norma at The Catholic Community of St. Edward the Confessor in Clifton Park on March 21 at 11:30am followed by a 1:30pm burial service at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Teresian House (200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203) where Norma lived for almost three years and whose loving, caring staff became her second family.
