Leroy Bollman

June 16, 1946 — June 24, 2014

Altamont – Leroy W. "Lee" Bollman, Jr. born June 16, 1946, beloved husband of Theresa (DeSimone) Bollman, entered into eternal life with our Lord on June 24, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Lee was the eldest son of the late Lois and Roy Bollman, and the brother of Lawrence (Frances) Bollman. He was a life member of the Castleton Volunteer Fire Dept., an appropriate occupation for a man who never had a problem running towards a cause he felt worthy. Lee loved our country and was a very proud U.S. Navy Veteran, having volunteered for the draft while still a college student. His service included a 14 month station in Viet Nam, with duties that often required him to travel on his own through various parts of Viet Nam, sometimes bartering his transportation by serving as a helicopter door gunner to make his way from place to place. He shared a life-long mutual respect with these brave pilots.

Lee was the special beloved Dad to, Maureen F. (Phil) Rizzuto and Terrence Skelly, Jr.; he was a devoted and very proud grandfather of, Phillip J. III, Gianni A. Rizzuto, and Terrence Skelly III. His greatest joy was in being their adored "Poppy" and being there for every activity, sport and concert. He truly found his God-given gifts in his role as a loving husband, father and grandfather to complete our family in a very special way. We were so blessed to have him for our own.

Our family would like to thank everyone who supported us through a very difficult, including the entire medical and hospice staff who cared for Lee. We would also like to thank our faithful friends who quietly saw us through each day, with special thanks to, Lynda Liebner Busher and Rose Franolich; a combined 75 years of friendship.

Funeral services for Lee have already taken place for Lee and were private to the family. He was laid to rest at Memory Gardens on Friday June 27, 2014 with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lee's name to any United States Veterans charity, especially in support of those suffering illnesses related to Agent Orange. To leave a special message for the family online please visit NewcomerAlbany.com
