Schenectady- LeRoy E. Kretzler, 62, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany he was the son of the late LeRoy Kretzler and Anna Bowles. LeRoy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country on the U.S.S. Ajax. He enjoyed completely restoring his 1964 El Camino and taking it to various car shows in the area. LeRoy also enjoyed carpentry and especially enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his children, grandchildren and family. He is predeceased by his step-father Thomas Bowles, his brother John Bowles, and his grandmother Helen Moutray Page.
LeRoy is survived by his cherished wife of 40 years Darlene (Michaels) Kretzler of Schenectady, his four children, Roy Kretzler of Stuyvesant, Teri Kretzler of Statesville, NC, Paul Kretzler of Schenectady and Jaclyn Kretzler of Schenectady and his five grandchildren, David, Dayna, Shanna, Gregory and Tristin. He is also survived by his beloved aunt Ebby (DuShane), his four sisters, Audrey, Sheila, Barbara and Kim, his brother Chuck and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at St. Luke's Church, 1235 State Street, Schenectady where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Renovation Fund, 1241 State Street, Schenectady, NY 12304 in memory of LeRoy E. Kretzler.
