Leroy J. Spaulding

SCHENECTADY – LeRoy J. Spaulding, 85, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late Olien and Ruth Spaulding.

LeRoy served his country during WWII in the Army, spending 18 months in Japan. He worked for the Army Depot for 19 years and retired from General Electric after 24 years. LeRoy was an active member of Grace Baptist Church (formerly Stanford Heights Baptist Church) in Guilderland.

Along with his parents, LeRoy was predeceased by his brother, Rolland.
He will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Norma J. (Post) Spaulding; siblings Marian Leahy of Florida, Charles and Olien Spaulding, Jr. of Cobleskill; children Cynthia (David Schenmeyer) Spaulding of Schenectady and Kevin Spaulding of Florida; grandchildren Kevin Jr. (Stefanie), Angela and Daniel (Heather), all of Florida; great-grandchildren Stacy, Dawson and Ava, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Larry, Donna, and all of the doctors and nurses at Ellis Hospital E1 Wing for their care and support.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, Pine West Plaza Building 2, Suite 204, Albany, NY 12205 or Grace Baptist Church, 5958 State Farm Rd, Guilderland, NY 12084 in LeRoy's name.
