ALBANY – LeRoy Roberts, 94, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Robert H. and Anna (Himbert) Roberts. Lee lived in Gloversville for most of his life after graduating from high school. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during World War II. Lee retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Gloversville in 1984 after thirty-four years of service. He was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Albany. Lee was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and a life time member of the Concordia Singing Society. He enjoyed painting, ceramics, sports, writing letters, visiting his friends in Gloversville and singing with the Mocking Birds on Friday's at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home for twenty-five years. Lee was predeceased by his beloved wife of over fifty years, Margaret Regina Canning Roberts.
He is survived by his devoted children, Daniel (Cynthia Craig) Roberts of Yarmouth Port, MA, Francis (Mary) Roberts, of Albany and Maureen (the late Paul) Callahan of Woodbridge, VA. He is the cherished grandfather of Kat Pacenka, Paul Callahan, Meghan Callahan and Daniel Callahan. Also surviving are his stepchildren, John, Colin and Jessie Mangler, Natalie and Randy Fasnacht and Rachel Westbrook Cuevas, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Lee was predeceased by his sister, Florence Roberts.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be on September 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.
