Leslie J. Griffiths

Schenectady- Leslie J. Griffiths, 76, passed away peacefully with family on her side on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Josephine Austin. Leslie is predeceased by her husband, Douglas J. Griffiths and her son-in-law, Michael Monroe.

Leslie worked as a telephone operator for NY Telephone Co. and AT&T from the early 1970's until she retired in 1996. She was a huge fan of Wayne Newton and Elvis. Leslie was happiest while spending time with her friends, family and her little sidekick, Teddy.

She is survived by her two children; Chad Griffiths (Georgeta) and Colleen Monroe (Terrell). She was the loving "Nana" to Hunter Monroe and Deborah Otto (Tim). She will also be missed by her seven great grandchildren and her siblings, Deborah McGregor, Rebecca Dashnaw (Gary) and Roxanne Dargie. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved fur-baby, Teddy.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Dennis Austin (Sue) and Wayne Austin (Susie).

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave, Schenectady,NY 12302.

Calling hours will be held on January 5, 2024 from 4pm-6pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A memorial service will begin at 6pm at the funeral home with a reception to follow at an outside location.
