Lester A. Brooks

RENSSELAER – Lester A. Brooks, 66, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Lester was born on September 9, 1942 in Albany and was the son of the late Lester V. and Catherine E. (Nash) Brooks. He served in the US Marine Corp Reserves. He worked as a mill worker for Gerrity Lumber Co. in Colonie and for Local 190 for many years. Golf was his passion and he enjoyed woodworking and football, especially the NY Giants and Notre Dame, but most especially he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Lester is survived by his loving wife of 46 years (October 13th), Giovanna Brooks; his children, Sherri (Ray) Selke of Vineland, NJ and Vincent (Lisa) Brooks of Hinsdale, NH; his grandchildren, Jason (Regina), Joshua, Justin and Meghan Belleville, Danielle (Mike) Stevens, Derrick Brooks and Lindsay Haas; his great-granddaughter, Sophia Belleville and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Clare's Church in Colonie. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Calling hours will be held at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
