Lewis J. DiDonna, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2012 at his home. Lewis was born in North Adams, MA to the late Rocco and Josephine DiDonna. He proudly served with the United States Army during WWII. Lewis was an avid golfer, he enjoyed listening to music, smoking cigars and he loved spending time with his family. Lewis was employed with the Times Union for many years until he retired. In addition to his parents, Lewis was predeceased by his brothers; Ralph DiDonna, Andrew DiDonna, John DiDonna, William DiDonna, his sisters; Gloria Coy, Rita Muraski, Dolores Fitzgerald, Mary Bua, Antoinette Stoddard and his step-brother, Raymond Cruz.
Lewis is survived by his beloved children; Marlene (Philip) Calvery, Lewis J. (Nelia) DiDonna Jr., and Patrice Wood. He is the cherished grandfather of, James Calvery, Jill (James) Dooley, Marikit DiDonna and JohnPaul DiDonna. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Caleb, Cory, Colton Calvery; his brother, Thomas DiDonna and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Joy, Henry and Sylvia for all of the care and compassion given to Lewis.
Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Internment will follow the service at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
