Guilderland, NY - Lillian Dorothy Cross, 90, formerly of Colonie, passed away peacefully from this life at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center on November 11, 2008.
Lillian was born in Albany on March 30, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Hazel (Van Wie) Siadi. She grew up in Albany, attended Albany schools and Mildred Elly Business School. She worked for the NYS Depy. of Civil Service until she married.
On October 9, 1938 she married Gardiner VanVorst Cross in a union that celebrated 50 years until his passing in 1989. They established their home in Colonie where she spent her time as a homemaker raising her family. She will be best remembered for her endless love of her family, flowers, gardening, music, baking and cooking the best dinners that guests remembered. Sharing a cup of tea with her family and friends was one of her favorite things.
She is the loving mother of Danfield (Roberta)Cross of Feura Bush and Diane Cross of Colonie.
She is the cherished Grandmother of William Cross, Glenn Cross, Bruce (Mary) Hotaling, Mark Hotaling, Denise Hosgood-Choquette, David (Pamela) Hosgood, Debra (Jeffrey) Espey and Daryl Hosgood. She is the precious great-grandmother "GG-Ma" of Alex Cross, Gabriel and Danielle Choquette, Quinn, Reese and Cody Hosgood, Jenna and Jacob Espey and the late Tessa Hosgood; devoted niece Julie Hourigan. She was predeceased by her loving sister Dixie Grube and her cherished niece, Joyceann (Bruce) Barton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, especially the Lourdes Unit which extended the quality of Lillian's life with their devotion and care and also to Dr. Forman who was truly compassionate.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center's Activity Dept., 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, NY 12084 in memory of Lillian D. Cross.
