COLONIE – Lillian Elizabeth Hodges, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 26 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Lillian was born on July 10, 1928 in Halifax County, VA and was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Harris) Petty. She was deeply involved with various churches throughout her entire life (most recently Lisha's Kill Reformed Church). Her personal relationship with the Lord sustained her and those around her through many trying times.
Lillian worked many years in retail at Almart and the Montgomery Ward stores in Colonie, NY. Later, she worked at KinderCare where she loved and nurtured numerous toddlers and at a law firm where she did the same for numerous legal professionals. While her family was her passion, Macy's never had a sale that she didn't like, and they have missed her terribly!
Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Richard A. Hodges; her loving daughter, Wanda (Robert) Hord of Plainview, LI, NY; her loving sons, Richard (Kristen Kemp) Hodges of Milwaukee, WI, and William (Catherine) Hodges of Boston, MA; her cherished grandchildren, Justin Lindsay, Brandon Lindsay, Anne Hodges, John Hodges, Jack Hodges, and MacLean Hodges; one step grandson, Byron Hord and one great-grandson, Jonathan Lindsay; her brothers, Charlie Petty of Detroit, MI and Champ Petty (status unknown), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Charles Hodges; and her brothers and sisters, Annie Wade, Virginia Link, Frances Spraggins, David Petty, Ben Petty, Bessie Faulkner, Frank Petty, and Lawrence Petty.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday with a viewing from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Lisha's Kill Reformed Church. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Colonie. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
