Lillie Mae Brown

Halifax,VA-Lillie Mae Edmondson Womack Brown was born October 27, 1933 to the late Chelsey and Mabel Edmondson. Lillie Mae departed this life peacefully at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital on April 9, 2021.

She was educated in Halifax County Public Schools, and afterward moved to NY, eventually settling in Albany. It was there that she raised her family with her husband, Louis. She worked at the Sacred Heart Convent and retired after many years of faithful service. In 2006, Lillie Mae and Louis relocated back to Virginia. Lillie Mae had a passion for cooking… and a feast she could prepare! She was known for many signature dishes the family and friends would often request.

She loved her family and was a friend to many. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Lillie Mae was preceded in death by one sister, Gracie Jennings; and two brothers, Henry, and James Edmondson.
She leaves to honor and cherish her memory her devoted husband, Louis; 11 children: Marshall (Sheila), Richard (Dolores), James (late Joann), Shirley, Debbie, Lisa, Jeffrey, Timothy, Michelle, Tasia, and Linette; 23 grandchildren;23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Edmondson; a devoted nephew, Ronald Barksdale; a devoted friend Abraham Perkins, her dear sisters-in-law; Florence Chandler and Lorraine Ballou and dear friend Marge Grimes; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
