Voorheesville – Linda L. Giglio, 63, passed away at her home on February 22, 2016 with her loving family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born in Albany, NY on December 29, 1952 to Elaine (Thayer) Harter and the late William Harter. She graduated from Colonie High School in 1970 and went to work for New York State before retiring from the Public Employees Federation in 2011.
Linda's top priority was her family. She cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother, always placing concern for others above her own. Linda valued family traditions and was warm and welcoming to all. To those who knew her best, her quiet fortitude and sense of humor will be forever remembered.
Linda was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Antonio and Maria Giglio, and her brother and sister-in-law, Romualdo and Livia Scalise.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, James; three daughters, Maria (Christopher) Sgroi, Jaimie Weyant, and Jessica Giglio (Brian Boudreau); mother, Elaine Harter; sister, Kathaleen (Dr. Kenneth) Lang; brothers, William Harter and Charles Harter; brother-in-law, Joseph (Isabella) Giglio; beloved grandchildren, Charlie and Lilia Sgroi and Dakota and Kallyn Weyant; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 4 pm – 8 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville, NY 12186 on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10 am. Burial will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY.
