Linda L. Soden (Overby), 66, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.
Linda was born in Petersburg, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ruby Lee Moore and George Overby and sister of the late Sandy Cash. After getting married and moving to Albany, she spent her time raising her four children and often volunteered for school activities. She was an active member of the Hudson Valley Girl Scout Council and worked many summers at Camp Is-sho-da where she was affectionately known by all as "Munchkin." Later in her career, Linda started a small business selling her handmade ceramics and crafts before moving on to work for the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance.
After retirement, Linda traveled extensively all across America and later took a job at the Great Escape Fun Park. She enjoyed ceramics and quilting as well as spending her summers at the Warrensburg Travel Park with friends and family. She was an avid Washington Redskins and Kyle Busch/NASCAR fan and also enjoyed her time visiting the casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
Linda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joseph; her children, Kathleen (Joseph) Pasquini, Brian, Sharon and Suzanne, her grandchildren, Caitlin, Matthew, Anthony, Adrianna, Eric, Bridget, Aidan and Gideon; her sister, Sheila Harlin; her aunt, Doris Overby; and three great grandchildren.
Calling hours for family and friends will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Sunday at New Comer Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, to be followed by a 4:00 pm funeral service. Interment will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville on Monday at 9:30 am.
The Soden Family would like to thank the staff of St. Peter's Hospital, especially the staff in the Coronary Care Unit and the Intensive Care Unit, for the compassionate and professional care that Linda received while under their care.
