Linda Stocklas, 68, departed this life unexpectedly, yet peacefully, while at home on January 31, 2018. A lifelong resident of Colonie, she was the daughter of Harold "Hap" and Betty Bigelow. Linda was a graduate of Colonie Central High School and Schenectady Community College.
Linda was a free spirit who was happiest when she was out and about. She could strike up a conversation with anybody and rarely went anywhere without encountering a friend. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, and visiting the Racino. Linda's jam and apple pies, made from fruit she picked, were legendary and always in demand. She was a longtime member and volunteer with Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Shawn Stocklas of Charleston, SC, Joshua Diamond (fiancé Adrianna Dennis) of Colonie, her mother, Betty Ryan of Orlando, sisters Gail Bigelow of Raleigh, NC, Deborah Bigelow-Saulsbery (Bruce) of Colonie, Cynthia McNerney (Thomas) of The Villages, FL, and a brother Allen of Duanesburg. She was predeceased by her father, her husband, Michael Stocklas, and dear aunt, Evelyn "Sis" Crandall.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 8, from 11AM – 1PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. A Memorial Service will commence at 1:00 PM.
Please remember Linda with an act of kindness and love, and consider making a donation to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society of Menands in her honor.
