Lisa Anne Chiesa

July 23, 1956 — October 20, 2023

Lisa A. Chiesa, 67, passed on to be with the Lord after a sudden and brief illness on October 20, 2023.

She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt. Lisa was everyone's rock. She cared deeply for family and friends. She was always available to talk with family and friends no matter the time of day. She may have given advice that you didn't want to hear, but it was the right advice that needed to be followed.

Lisa always spoke from her heart in the most caring way. She was incredibly knowledgeable on most subjects and a gifted researcher on information she was interested in. Lisa pursued many causes with strength, courage, and persistence. She fought the good fight in spite of often prevailing adversity.

She was a Ph.D. candidate at Stony Brook University, but settled for a Master's Degree when raising her two twin sons took precedence. She and her husband celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year. She worked as an English Teacher for Catholic schools and retired from the NYS Education Department as a Grant Administrator.

Lisa was eclectic. She enjoyed running, yoga, literature, culture, art, museums, travel, and nature walks. She also enjoyed Public Broadcast programming on Sunday nights. She treasured her childhood memories of Wickham Park and the beach at Watch Hill with her Grandpa and Grandma Fogarty, her mother Margaret, and her Uncle Jack. She lived her life on her own terms and in her own way. She was deeply religious and caring.

She is survived by her husband Nicholas and her two sons, Nicholas Justin and Alexander John; her siblings Merrill Whiston (Julie), Jay Whiston, Shawn Whiston (Allison), Bryarly Petano (Thomas), and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, as well as life-long friends.
