GUILDERLAND – Lloyd R. "Rusty" Strevel, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2010. Born in Seattle, WA, he was the son of the late John and Pearl Strevel. Rusty was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving his country during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Mississippi, and retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He loved music, dancing and was proud of the family he raised. Rusty was the beloved husband of the late Bertha M. "Red" Strevel. He is the devoted father of Karen (Gary) Parker of Clifton Park, Wesley R. (Kathy) of Dover, NH, Lloyd R. (Mary) Strevel, II of Newport, MI, Cynthia (Joe Mix) Malone of Berne and Bonnie (Jim Paul) Falso of Scotia. Rusty is the brother of Virginia Batten of Seattle, WA. He is the cherished grandfather of Steven, Graham, Johanna, Michael, Erica, Kevin, Nicholas, Sean, Jarred, Matthew and Brett. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and Rusty's sister-in-law, Hazel Salladin of Worthington, PA.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (RT. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Welcome Back Veterans (for the health and employment needs of American's returning vets and their families), 37002 Eagle Way, Chicago, IL 60678 in memory of Lloyd R. Strevel.
