Lois A. Collins

Lois A. Collins, 93, wife of the late Lester Collins Jr., passed away Sunday, September 29th, at St Peter’s rehab center. 

Born May 23, 1931, in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen Maxwell. Mrs. Collins attended Albany High School and Albany Business school. 

She later worked at NYS Tax and Finance for 30 years while raising her 5 children.She is survived by sons Donald (MaryAnn) Collins, Thomas Collins, Douglas (Cheryl) Collins : daughter Karen (Robert Delong) Legge, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She also survived by her siblings Arlene Vrooman and Doris Turlo. In addition to her husband, Lester, Lois was predeceased by her son, Stephen Collins, her granddaughter Rebecca Collins and her brother David Maxwell.

Service will be determined at a later date. 

Lois will be laid to rest with her husband at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Lois’s name to Guiding Eyes for the Blind (Capital District Region) 611 Granite Springs Rd., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598. Lois enjoyed many years of having future guide dog puppies in her home while living with her daughter.
