ALBANY-Lois E. Skuse, 90, entered into eternal rest with her Lord on February 25th 2014 at St. Peter's Hospice. Lois was the daughter of George and Esther Eisenbraun of Rochester, N.Y. and the beloved wife of the late Raymond C. Skuse. As a graduate of the Rochester Business Institute, Lois worked in banking as a secretary to the Branch Manager of Mechanics Savings Bank in Rochester. Following her move to Albany in 1956, Lois rose to become the Assistant Vice President of City and County Savings Bank. In 1975, Lois became a member of the Zonta Club of Albany and a board member of the Albany Girls Club giving her time and love to her community. Lois was also an avid member of the First Lutheran Church of Albany sharing her love of God and her beautiful voice in choir every Sunday. In 2008, Lois received the Senior Lifetime Achievement Award from the Capital District Senior Issues Forum for her contributions and selflessness to others. Sharing a passion for travel with her husband, Ray, Lois spent her summers with family on Cape Cod and enjoyed many travels abroad including Germany. Lois was skilled in needlepoint and had a true green-thumb as a gardener. Her ultimate pleasure was spending time with her granddaughters and many "grand-dogs".
A devoted mother and grand-mother Lois is survived by her son, Charles R. Skuse; daughter-in-law, Judith A. Skuse; and granddaughters, Amanda and Katherine Skuse of Guilderland, N.Y. She is also survived by her loving brother and sister-in-law Vern and Beverly Eisenbraun of Rochester, N.Y.; four nieces and their families of Rochester, N.Y., and beloved cousin Alan Eisenbraun of Las Vegas, N.V. In her later years, Lois was a resident of Kingsway Community where she has developed many friendships among residents and staff.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday March 1st, 2014 at First Lutheran Church preceded by calling hours from 9:30 to 11:00. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Interment will be at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
