Lois Lansing

Lois A. Lansing, 78, of Colonie passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation after a recent illness.

Born June 10, 1945, in Niskayuna, Lois was the daughter of the late Delbert J. Lansing, Sr. and Bessie E. Lansing.

After graduating from high school, Lois was employed by the New York Telephone Company before retiring in 1991. In 1996, she began her second career in the Youth Services department at the William K. Sanford Town Library. A fixture at the library, Lois celebrated 28 years in February. Whether it was making finger puppets to support story time themes or chairing the annual mitten tree, her artistic talents touched so many over the years.

Lois was passionate about her family genealogy and proud to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Shaker Heritage Society. She was also a member of the Colonie Art League, often receiving recognition for her creations.

Lois is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary L. Lansing; her niece, Jennifer (Kenneth) L. Lansing-McGrath of Kennesaw, GA; her nephew David J. Lansing; her niece, Patricia (Michael) Sanchez; her nephew Keith Lansing; her nephew Ted Hale of Rochester, NY; three great-nephews Ryan Patrick, Ciaran James and Connor David McGrath of Kennesaw, GA; a great-nephew Michael (Catrina) Sanchez; a great-nephew Daniel (Mary) Lansing and one great-great niece and two great-great nephews.

Lois was predeceased by her brothers, Delbert and DeWitt, and her nephew Daniel Lansing.

A memorial service will be held at Lisha's Kill Reformed Church on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 am with a reception to follow at the church. Interment will be at Lisha's Kill Reformed Church Cemetery.
