Lois Mausert, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born in Chatham, to the late Harry and Nellie (Moore) Waltermire. Lois was the longest living graduate of Cazenovia High School; since then she continued her education at Mildred Elley, earning a degree in Business. Lois taught Sunday school for several years, but her greatest passion was being a homemaker. She devoted her life to her family, enjoying her grandchildren's basketball games, soccer games, concerts, dance recitals and other family functions. In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her loving husband of over 45 years, George Mausert and her sister, Betty Bascom.
She is survived by her four Children, William (Penny) Mausert, Carol (Arnold) Symonds, Frederick (Florence) Mausert and Richard (Kathleen) Mausert. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.
Lois's family wishes to thank the staff at the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center for all of their care and kindness during the past six months.
Funeral service will be Monday at 12 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 10 to 12. Interment will follow the service at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastern Parkway United Methodist Church, 943 Palmer Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12309 or to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in Lois's honor.
