Lois Paino

Lois Eleanor Paino, 96, formerly of Norwich, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY.

She was born on October 7, 1919, to Gilman and Erma (Blood) Tanner of Norwich, NY. Lois was a member of the Norwich High School Class of 1938. On March 14, 1941, she married the love of her life, Frank Paino, of Norwich. They were happily married for 28 years, ending only with his death on December 30, 1969. She was a member of the Ave Maria Guild of St. Bartholomew's Church.

She spent fourteen years living in Melbourne, Florida, before moving to Albany, where she was a longtime resident of Teresian House. She had a strong will, a sharp mind, and enjoyed crocheting and knitting, crossword puzzles, writing letters and cards, reading, chocolates, cats, and sitting outside in the sunshine. She especially loved butterflies.

Lois is survived by two daughters, Sheron (Tony) Box of Chico, CA, and Terri (Tom) Maxwell of Guilderland, NY. She had five grandchildren, Cathy (Mike) Kauffman of Fairport, NY; Michael (Mary) Box of Bakersfield, CA; Jim Box of Morrisville, NC; Tara (Jacob) Burke of Elmira, NY; and Justin Maxwell of Guilderland, NY. She also had five great-grandchildren, Anthony Box, Christopher Kauffman, Kyle Kauffman, Timmy (Amanda) Box, and Anna Box; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; her sister, Bernice (Bill) Craig; and her brother, Raymond Tanner.
The family would like to thank Teresian House, and is especially grateful to the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's for their wonderful care of Lois and her family during her passing.

A service will be held at the Teresian House Chapel at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14th. Interment will follow at a later date at St. Paul's Cemetery in Norwich.
