LOUDONVILLE – Loretta E. Candler, 88 passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Loretta was born on April 28, 1921 in Brooklyn. She was predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Mary T. (Earle) and Harry Gunther; her father, Harry Ambersen; and her sisters, Frances Hazard and Edna Fennelly.
On October 5, 2005, Loretta received an accommodation and a Certificate of Appreciation from Governor George Pataki for the 60 years of dedicated service she gave to the State of New York Department of Civil Service. She was very proud to have received them. She enjoyed bowling, going to Saratoga Race Track and OTB.
Loretta is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Louise Benjamin of Loudonville; her grandsons, David J. (Debbie) Benjamin, James D. Benjamin, and Brian R. (Sherri) Benjamin; her great-grandchildren, Jenna and Brian Benjamin and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
