COLONIE - At rest February 7, 2014, Loretta Martino Amedio of Colonie, age 90. Born in Rensselaer, she was the daughter of the late Marco and Anna Martino. A graduate of Van Rensselaer High School, Loretta worked at several places, including St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, where she met the love of her life, Anthony Amedio of Ravena and Albany, her husband of 62 years who died in 2004. They lived most of their married life at their home on Wilson Avenue in Colonie. Their hospitality was legendary, and numerous friends, relatives and neighbors of all ages enjoyed gatherings and celebrations of every kind at their house. Loretta loved a party, and was especially known for her sometimes uproarious sense of humor and for the excellence of her cuisine. She was an avid fan of the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills.
A true"homemaker", nothing was more precious to Loretta than her children and grandchildren. She was very recently predeceased by her son Ronald, and is survived by Ron's beloved wife Kathleen Napierski Amedio, and by her daughter and dearest companion Lorraine (Russell) Dubuc of Albany, and her beloved sons Michael (Debra) Amedio of Latham and Gerard (Angela) Amedio of Saratoga Springs. Loretta is the sister of Albert Martino of East Greenbush, Paula Taylor of Florida and the late Sylvester Martino. She also treasured her grandchildren Brian and David Amedio, Rebecca Delaney, Laura Folos, Margot Cole, Kara, Ryan, Allison and Ashley Amedio, and Lisa Paigo. She is also survived by beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, and by special friends Patricia Marr and Linda Young.
Loretta and her beloved Tony were lifelong communicants of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Colonie. Most recently, she has enjoyed excellent and loving care from the staff and aides of Teresian House in Albany where she has resided since 2007.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning at 11:00 at the Infant of Prague Chapel at the Teresian House in Albany. Visitation will be prior to the Mass from 10 to 11 am at the Teresian House. Interment will be in Saratoga National VA Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext. Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Loretta.
