Lori Lynn Whitney, 69, of Delmar, passed away suddenly on May 17, 2024 at home.
She was born in Albany on September 12, 1954 to the late Roland and Barbara(Saulsbury) Whitney. She is predeceased by her brothers, Alan and Terry Whitney.
Lori graduated from BCHS in 1972 and after graduation she obtained her cosmetology license from Colonna Beauty School. She eventually opened her own salon, Oakwood Hairstylist and ran it herself for over 35 years until she retired. She was also an instructor for Colonna Beauty school for several years in the early 1990's. Lori was an avid gardener, spending hours at a time on her gardens, especially her rose garden. It was also well known that she was an animal lover, owning several dogs and cats over the years.
Lori's love knew no bounds. She was the type of woman who would never hesitate to lend a helping hand, offer a shoulder to cry on and offer someone a place to stay if they needed. She was also an amazing daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, partner and friend. Lori is a woman who will be tremendously missed and loved always.
She is survived by her partner of 30 years, Brian Young; sister in laws Geri(Race) Whitney and Wanda (Susser)Whitney; her loving children, Tiffiny (Kristian) Snyder and Christopher Bowdish; stepmother to Brandy(Michael) Harvey; Grandchildren Lincoln, Skylar and Karsten Snyder; Harper and Maverick Bowdish; Brianna, Terah, Julianna, Calla Harvey and Leaonna Horak; Niece Holly(Whitney) Weddell and Lori Nolan; Nephew Scott Whitney; as well as other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday June 15 from 11am-1pm with a service to follow at 1pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, New York.
