Schenectady-Lorraine A. Bacchi, 88, entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Lorraine is survived by her two children: Cindy Cohen and David (Theresa) Bacchi along with several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Michael Cohen, Daniel and Paul Bacchi, and two great-grandchildren: Joseph and Olivia Cohen. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis, and her brother Charles. Born on June 15, 1929 to the late Ferdinand and Sophie (Peckowitz) Schnurr in Albany, she moved to Schenectady and built a home with her husband. She was a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady.
Lorraine, a graduate of Vincentian Institute, in between raising her family, worked for several local businesses, most recently US Federation of Small Businesses. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and baking, her chocolate chip cookies were quite famous. She attended cake decorating classes and became the families' supplier of highly crafted cakes for all occasions. Always a giving person, she donated to serval charities and would always welcome visitors to stay for dinner. She retired in 2003, to enjoy puzzle building, reading and vacationing with her family, often visiting Maine and Amish country in Pennsylvania. Recently, she enjoyed her weekends with her great-grandchildren.
Lorraine was an animal lover, always keeping her bird feeder full, and those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers can contribute, in her name, to Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 4 until 7. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 9am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St, Schenectady, NY. Interment will be held in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Schenectady.
