Lorraine D. Kingsbury

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Lorraine (Babcock) Kingsbury, who entered eternal life on Monday, April 7, 2025. She was born in Wellsville on October 19, 1939, to the late Winfield Babcock and Yvonne Babcock (Rowland). Lorraine is also preceded in death by her sister, Ellie.

In the 1960s, she relocated to Albany and later retired from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Lorraine was a long-time member of the Albany Alliance Church (Pineview Community Church) in Albany. Although she did not have children of her own, she deeply loved children and cherished her many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine will always be remembered for her kind and generous heart. She contributed to many charitable organizations and led a life of selfless service, which reflected Christ’s love. She cherished family gatherings and often opened her home and pool to family and friends. She had an early love for horses, which continued throughout her life. Her spirit and warmth will continue to inspire everyone who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband Donnie, with whom she was married for nearly 27 years. She is also survived by her brothers Winfield (Marge) Babcock II and Roger Rowland, her sister Bette (Bruce) Salisbury, her step-sons Steven and Paul Kingsbury, step-daughters Jeannette Sparr and Chantelle Oliver, and step-grandchildren Avery, Jillian, and Kara Sparr and Finley Oliver of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Todd Unruh, Teri Christian, Winfield (Kim) Babcock III, Craig (Maxine) Babcock, Duane Salisbury, Andrew (Waka) Salisbury, Connor (Ashley) Salisbury, Julia Salisbury, and Jasper Salisbury.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 am in Albany Alliance Church, 251 Washington Ave Ext, Albany, NY 12205. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Albany, NY 12205
