Lorraine G. Newsome

On Friday, April 25, 2008, Lorraine Gloria Newsome departed this life to be with our Lord. On August 1, 1945, Lorraine was the first child born to the late Selena Mae Walker Claire and James Claire in Southampton Hospital in Southampton, New York. Lorraine moved from Riverhead, New York to Albany, New York in 1980 where she worked at CDTA. Following a diagnosis with lymphoma and leukemia, Lorraine retired from CDTA.
Preceded in death by her mother Selena Mae Walker Claire and son Derek Alan Miles, Lorraine leaves to celebrate her life, her youngest loving son Keith D. Miles; one sister, Brenda Joyce Barrett; Father, James Claire; Former husband and devoted friend, Robert D. Newsome; Grandchildren, Je'ral and Ja'Nezz Blunt, Christin Miles (deceased); Aunts, Christine Watson, Barbara Bray, Eleanor and Annie Walker; Nephews and Niece, Bryan, Shawn, Gerard, Stephanie, Terence (deceased) Barrett; Cousins; Goddaughters, Joy Knight and Erica Pendelton ; her beloved baby girl Jazmin Carothers and a multitude of friends.
Funeral services will be Friday at 12 noon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 441 Washington Ave. Albany. Calling hours will precede the services from 10 am to 12 noon at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 5 Computer Drive West, Suite 100, Albany NY 12205 in memory of Lorraine G. Newsome.
