Loudonville – Lorraine E. Pitcher, "Lanie", 89, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 while peacefully at home with family. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Benack, Lisa Pitcher (Jim Calvagno), William Pitcher; her grandsons, Sean (Josephine) Benack, Daniel Benack, and Brendon (Tatijana) Benack; and great grandchildren, Everly Benack, Terah Benack, Meadowlyn Benack, and Magdalena Benack. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard C. Pitcher; her son, Leonard C. Pitcher Jr.; as well as her brothers and sisters. Lorraine was born in the city of Albany on November 29, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Matthew and Margaret Yanas.
For over 60 years Lorraine kept her little green house tidy while she and her husband happily watched as their family continued to grow. She often spoke of the fun they had hosting a great number of gatherings there for the holidays. For several years she worked as a waitress at Thirsty's restaurant alongside her sister Barbara. She was well known for her uncanny memory and could spend hours musing over a library of recollections. We will deeply miss hearing her stories of humble beginnings, flour sack dresses, and wild days gone by. She was a devoted wife, an unconditionally loving mother, and an absolute joy as a Mema. We are grateful for the kindness and generosity that she has shared throughout the years and we thank God for having known her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Sunday November 12th from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00am Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Noteworthy Resources, 930 Broadway Suite 1, Albany, NY 12207.
