Lorraine "Lori" Waite

COLONIE - Lorraine "Lori" Waite passed away peacefully at the age of 106, into the welcoming arms of our Lord Jesus on Thursday, October 12, 2023 in Estero, Fla.

Born Lorraine Berthuime on February 25, 1917, in Manchester, NH, she was the youngest of 7 children. Her warm heart and lust for life will be forever cherished. She will be remembered for always sharing her love enthusiastically for her husband, Harold, her children, grandchildren, great & great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in her death by husband, Harold Waite, daughter, Janet Peters, son, Harold "Sonny" Waite Jr., parents, Emelda and Wilford Berthuime; her 4 brothers; 2 sisters and her great granddaughter, Jennifer Stevens Darrow. Lori is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Ron) Flubacher of Estero, Fla. and her son, John (Cathy) Waite of Suwanee, GA. Her amazing Legacy is also being survived by her 11 grandchildren; Lori Staiger of Saratoga, NY, Robert Peters Jr. of Ocean Isles, NC, Linda Costello of Ravena, NY, Richard Peters of Pittsfield, MA, Kathy Morrisey of Colonie, NY, Stephen Flubacher of Northville, NY, Ronald Flubacher of Myrtle Beach SC, Kyle Waite of Suwanee, GA, Christopher Waite of Suwanee, GA, Bradford Waite of Norcross, GA, Jamieson Waite of Asheville, NC as well as 21 great grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren.

Originally from New England area Lori moved with husband, Harold and 4 children to the Latham, NY area in the early 1950's. She resided for many years on Hunting Road as well as Beltrone Senior Housing in Colonie NY. She lived in Estero, FL for the last six years. Lori was a communicant of both St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Latham as well as St. Clare's Catholic Church in Colonie NY. She had a long tenure working for Montgomery Ward in Menands, NY in the customer service department. After her family she had a passion for golf, bridge and bowling belonging to the "500" club. She remained active playing in all these activities into her late 90's. Her secret to a long life was staying active, a glass of wine (or two) for happy hour and sweets for breakfast.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 20th, at 10 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 19th, from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment, Memory Gardens, Colonie.
