COLONIE – LouAnn "Lou" Quickenton Blatnick, 52, passed away at St. Peter's Hospice Inn on Thursday, March 8, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of Joseph and Julia Quickenton.
LouAnn graduated in 1978 for Colonie Central High School. She was a waitress all her working life at the Blue Ribbon and Route 7 Diner. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. She loved to cook and bake, and she had a passion for gardening herbs, vegetables and flowers. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Stanford Heights Fire Company.
LouAnn was the dedicated mother of David, Amanda, Shane, and the late Carla Ann. Along with her parents, she is survived by her loving sister and caretaker, Kathy (Dave) Riha; brother Joe (Donna) Quickenton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; a great niece and great nephew; cousins; best friend Jackie; Aunt Lo; friend Duke, and estranged husband Andrew.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in LouAnn's name.
