Albany- Louis Jefferson Brown was born to Charlie and Maedell Williams Brown on February 25, 1936 and he gained his wings on November 6, 2023. Louis grew up in Halifax, Virginia.
He relocated to New York State where he lived for over 40 years. After he and his lovely wife Lillie retired, they moved back to their hometown of Halifax and lived there until Lillie gained her wings in April 2021. Louis was a truck driver for the Quail Uniform Company, which later merged with Morgan Linen. He also worked for a short time at Siena College. Louis enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, and spending time with friends and family, especially his loving wife Lillie who he affectionately called "Honey". Louis also loved watching old westerns, wrestling (which he thought was real), game shows and his favorite baseball team the New York Mets. Louis fully believed that God is in control, especially the weather, right family! He accepted Christ as his Savior and when asked he would tell you about "the Good Lord" as he liked to call Him and how good God has been to him.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Lillie Mae, his parents Charlie and Maedell, his siblings Hazel Mae Bell, Branford, Alvin and Lorenzo Brown, and a loving grandson Rasaad Brown.
Louis is survived by six sons Marshall "Peter" Womack (Sheila), Richard Womack (Delores), James Womack, Harvey Chandler (Mary), Jeffrey and Timothy Brown. Six daughters Shirley Womack, Debbie Brown, Lisa Brown, Michelle Brown, Tasia Brown and Linette Brown. Louis had three honorary sons, Ronald "Winky" Barksdale, Darrell Womack and William "Mac" McAdoo. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Florine Chandler and Lorraine Ballou and two brothers, Charlie "CD" Brown and Dewey Brown. He had two special nieces, Robin Ballou Robinson who he called "Cherry Bird" and Barbara Brown. He had two special nephews Leon Brown and Charles Brown. Louis leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Louis J. Brown was well loved and will be missed tremendously.
