TROY – Louis G. Schneider, 90, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Louis J. and Theresa (Klee) Schneider. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country during World War II. Louis worked for the Behr Manning Company in Watervliet and retired in 1983 after forty-six years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Louis was predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Elsie T. Schneider on November 14, 2008.
He is the devoted father of Louis (Mary Jo) Schneider and Paul (Kari) Schneider. He is the loving brother of Donald (Patricia) Schneider. Louis is the cherished grandfather of Brooke, Joseph and Lindsay Schneider and great-grandfather of Kennedy Lynn Schneider. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Betsy Schneider and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Arica Schneider, his brothers, William (Judy) Schneider and Robert Schneider and his sister Dorothy (Tony) Urbon. The family would like to thank the staff of the 2nd floor at Barnwell Nursing Home, especially Julia and Michelle (Mama) for the excellent care and compassion they gave to Louis during his stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Pine West Plaza, Building 2, Suite 204, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Louis G, Schneider.
