ALBANY-Louis E. Gaus, 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family.

Lou was born in Ticonderoga, NY on January 18, 1932 to the late Brigadier General, NYARNG Louis H. Gaus and Mrs. Alecta P. Gaus. Lou served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1954-1962. After his time in the Army, Lou joined the New York National Guard, where he retired as Lt. Colonel after over 20 years of service. Lou also worked for New York State for 25 years. In 1975 Lou married the late Maureen Boyle. They were married for 38 years.
Lou is predeceased by his beloved wife, Maureen Gaus, his three sisters, and the mother of his children and his first wife, Ann Gaus.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Stephen R. Lockwood)Trottier, and Deborah (Billy Ray)Wyatt, and his six grandchildren, Jason, Laura, Karen, Alexander, Victor, and Eric.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Friday, August 11, 2017, from 10:00am-12:00pm with a service to immediately follow. Burial will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
