Albany - Louis J. Kurtzner, 81, passed away suddenly on August 24, 2024. Lou was born on July 27, 1943 in Albany, NY to the late Edwin W. and Marie Joerg Kurtzner. He was a graduate of Colonie Central High School and earned his Associate's Degree from Mohawk Valley Community College.
Lou was an Eagle Scout, he enjoyed bowling and golf. he was the owner of NuBody Auto Shop, and he really enjoyed his Ford Mustang used part business. He was a Life Member of the West Albany Fire Department. He was an avid auto racing fan. Lou first discovered his love of racing in the mid-60's at a variety of the local race tracks. He tried to race a few times but his calling was to be a car owner. His cars were always well maintained and always looked great. His main track was Lebanon Valley, but his cars raced at basically every race track in the Northeast. He had a lot of different drivers that drove for him, but his best years were in the middle 70's with the number 76 modified. This is when he won his 1st modified feature with Mike Ehring driving to one of the most popular wins.
Lou was an animal lover, especially for cats. This started early as a child when he rescued a kitten and brought it home under his jacket. He continued to rescue and adopt cats throughout his life. He comforted them and they, in return, comforted him.
