Albany- Louis F. Lavender, 85, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, August 14, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Louis was born in Florida, NY and was the son of the late Louis and Esther Lavender.
He enjoyed his camp on Saratoga Lake where he fished and visited the Saratoga Race Tracks. He also enjoyed bowling, achieving a 300 game. Louis traveled with his wife, brother, and sister-in-law to Atlantic City twice a year. Louis enjoyed working with wood and was a talented craftsman. He was often gifted with his beloved scratch-off tickets for every occasion.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Rowena Lavender, his brother Edward Lavender, and his sister-in-law Carol Lavender.
Louis is survived by his children, Terri Lavender, Glen (Hellen) Lavender and Cyndi (Dan) Walter. He was the devoted grandfather of Raymond, Andrew (Carol), Beth, Heather (Richard) and Jennifer. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his adored cats.
The family would like to thank Louis' nurse Gayle Durivage from the Eddy Visiting Nurses for her care that went above and beyond her duty. We would also like to thank Starr Wensley for her continued care and support.

Funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
