LOUDONVILLE - Louis Martinez, 84, of Loudonville, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday November 10, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Tamon, Spain and was the beloved son of the late Señor Martinez and Victoria Muñiz of Asturias, Spain. Lou was a survivor of the Spanish Civil War. He was a classical and flamenco guitarist. Lou worked for the railroad in Rome, NY before settling in the Albany area. He was the Service Captain at the Desmond Hotel for many years. Lou was recognized with several awards for his work ethic and his vibrant and congenial personality. He enjoyed Spanish and Classical Baroque music and had a sincere love and respect for animals.
Lou was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Maria and his sisters, Gloria and Ana. He is the devoted father of Estrella MR. Martinez, MD and the cherished grandfather of Javier-Luis I. Martinez. He will be dearly missed by his canine companion, Nikki.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
