Louis F. Selig, 83, of Rensselaer, passed away April 3, 2020. Born October 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mildred Selig.
He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy 1957-1961 ADR2, Louie was stationed at NAAS Saufley Field, Pensacola Florida and USS Wasp.
He was a mechanic at Watkins Spring in Albany.
A lifelong resident of Colonie and Rensselaer, Louie was an active member of the Capitol District RC Racers for over 15 years. He could be found most weekends on his tractor, or taking rides with Arlene to see local sights, especially lakes and rivers.
He enjoyed racing RC cars and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The only thing that outweighed his love for candy, was the love of his life, Arlene. Louis was always seeking a deal and couldn't pass up another person's discarded motorized car to fix up, or some 50% off holiday candy.
Louie had a sense of humor that was unfailing no matter how difficult the road, never complaining, only encouraging. His smile was infectious, and he had a knack for making others smile with him.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by sister Patricia (Pat) Ramondo, and brother Frederick (Fritz) Selig
.
Louie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arlene, sons, Steve (Antonette), Ron (Erin), and Bill (Stephanie) Selig, daughter Lori (Bill) McDonald, grandchildren Chris, Brian, Blake, McKenzie and Austin Selig, Brittany and Christina Mcdonald.
