Louis T. Murray

COLONIE – Louis T. Murray, 75, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Middletown, NY he was the son of the late Louis and Helen Murray. Mr. Murray has been a resident of Colonie since 1976. He was a Sergeant with the United States Army where he served his country from 1955 through 1958. Louis started his career in the insurance field in 1962 with Travelers Insurance Company and then with Reliance Insurance Company, both located in New York City. He transferred to Albany with the Reliance Insurance Company in 1976 where he worked until his retirement in 1999. Louis was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Albany, the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192, the Knight of Columbus in Latham and the Beltrone Colonie Senior Citizens. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and Seton Hall University basketball fan. Louis enjoyed listening to jazz music and golfing. He is the beloved husband of 44 years to Lorraine Murray and the devoted father of Michael (Kristina) Murray of Niskayuna. He is the cherished grandfather "Poppy" of Michael Murray, Jr. Also surviving is his sister, Ellen Todres of McLean, VA as well as many nieces and nephews. Louis was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Murray.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Maternity Services, 27 North Main St., Albany, NY 12203 in memory of Louis T. Murray.
